To celebrate the launch of his newest collaboration with adidas Originals, Pharrell Williams visited the Superstar Experience at 138 Wooster Street to surprise 50 high school artists with an evening of inspiration and creativity that they will never forget. The young creators were invited to customize their own pair of white on white Superstar 80s that would become part of a special art installation displayed in the space.
As the artists wrapped up their custom sneakers, Pharrell was revealed as the guest of honor. He then took time to admire their designs and about creativity as the vehicle of a true Superstar, innovation and artistic expression. He introduced his protégé, Raury, who talked about following your dreams and staying dedicated to what inspires you. Raury took the stage with the kids’s creations as the backdrop to his private performance. DMC and the BAES kept the energy high throughout the evening and provided motivation and encouragement.
The students were selected based on their passion for art, design and fashion from three different NYC schools: High School of Fashion Industries, Harlem School of the Arts, and The Avenues.
